How do I set a color-code range for SmartBar buttons?

55 views 0 Updated on July 27, 2022

With version 2016.112 we introduce some major features for SmartBar, which allow a smoother handling of count/color based buttons and an easier handling of multiple views. For further information on how to add navigation buttons to system views, have a look at this article.

Count/colour based buttons

With version 2016.112 or higher, it is possible to color code SmartBar buttons and to set a range on SmartBar buttons.

Figure 1: SmartBar Color Coding and range

To range the buttons, please open the SmartBar settings with a click on the [Gear icon]-button. In the so opened buttons-tab, please select the button you’d like to modify and click on the [Configure]-button. Of course, you could also create a new button. If you’d like to create a totally new button, please see this article.

In the so opened window, please click on the [Add]-button in the Button Background Color-field.

Figure 2: Add Color

Here, you can
– set a maximum count of related records for this color. ❶
(In our below example (see figure 4), the button will only appear in this color if the count of related records is smaller than 10.)

– define a color ❷

– or delete the button ❸

Figure 3: Add new button

The result looks like this. You may add as many buttons as you wish. However, the button’s range must be set in an ascending order.

We have created an example with various buttons for you. Please have a look at the result in figure 5.
