In-Person E-signing

400 views 0 Updated on July 15, 2024

All e-signature applications through mscrm-addons.com support in-person e-signing. This means that the signer is physically meeting with the authorized party, accessing the document on a digital device, and electronically signing it using a stylus, finger, or another electronic input method. The signed document is then instantly validated and securely stored in a digital format. This method combines the convenience of electronic signatures with the assurance of face-to-face verification.

Pre-requisite: One of the supported e-signature applications below must be installed and configured.

  • DocuSign
  • AssureSign
  • Adobe Sign

From within Dynamics 365

The process of starting and executing an in-person signing process is straightforward and quite similar to the traditional e-signature process.

The following process to build an e-signature document is the same as described in this article, however, when defining how your document should be executed check the In-person signing checkbox in the Dialog. This will ensure that the prepared contract will be accessible from the dialog once generated.

The “In-person signing checkbox” is checked in the DCP dialog

Please note: The recipient should be the person who is required to be with the signer to sign the document.

After creating, previewing, and finishing the document creation process, you will be able to open and sign the document directly from the DCP Dialog, as you can see in the figure below. If there is more than one signee, you will see multiple links for each signee.

The document is generated and a link can be clicked to sign it
Figure 2: Open the document and sign in-person

Note: An e-mail will also have been sent to the host, who will be the authorized party present with the signer. The host can select Click here to review and sign from the email to open the document as well.

After the signer has finished adding their e-signature, the host must complete the process by selecting the Click to Sign button at the bottom of the page.

The e-signature process is now complete, and a copy of the signed document will be sent to all parties.

From Canvas Apps

You can also initiate in-person e-signing from Canvas Apps.

First, you need to create a flow, which can be done by following the steps in this article, but with one key change. When adding the step to send the document for e-signature (step 5), you must type True in the InPerson box. You also need to fill out the DocuSign Hostname and Hostemail when using DocuSign as the e-sign provider. This will result in the direct signing links being available as an output parameter “returnvalue 2” once the step is completed. This link is what you can then, for example, pass back to the Canvas App using the Respond to PowerApps action. You can then move forward with completing and saving your flow.

Figure 3: Select InPerson Signing within your flow

After your flow is complete, you can add it to your Canvas App however you like. For example, a use case could be that in your Canvas App, you select a quote record, then you select a template and press a button to generate a quote document. You can then have a button to Send the document for E-Signing, and have your flow configured here so that a click on this button initiates the flow and generates the document for in-person e-signing. This example can be seen below.
