This article provides a detailed explanation of how PowerAddons Template Designer works and its different functionalities. It explains various features and offers a step-by-step guide for using the PowerAddons Template Designer. First, let’s see an overview of the features.
Insert field allows you to add the selected field to your presentation, enabling you to directly incorporate the necessary data field from Dataverse into your presentation. Like the Word DocumentsCorePack template designer, you can choose your specific field type from the drop-down menu.
In a PowerPoint presentation, navigate to “Insert Fields”. Immediately “Insert mail merge field” will be displayed on the right-hand side of your page. This will display various fields that you require for your presentation.
As shown in Figure 2&3 select the entities you require. In this example, “quote” is the entity, and the “QuoteID” field was chosen to add to the presentation.
Step By Step Guide to create a quote in PowerAddons Designer
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through creating a quote template similar to designing a Word template. All you need to do is create your design and insert the relevant fields using the drag-and-drop feature.
Step 1: Setting the Basic entities
As you recall from working with the DocumentsCorePack Template Designer, even in the PowerAddons Template Designer, it is important to create and set the base entity first. In this particular scenario, the Quote is our base entity, as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
Step 2: Creating a basic structure
Let’s begin by adding our basic information and structure, as in Figure 4. This will determine the final result.
Step 3: Insert the fields from Dataverse
As we can see, we have identified the fields needed to form the basic structure. These standard fields will be sourced from the Quote entity or related fields as shown in Figure 5.
Step 4: Create a Quote table
First, let’s create a table Quote Line entity, by connecting to Relationships Designer and locating Quote -> ❶ Order(quoteid) -> ❷ Add Relationship as shown in Figure 6.
The PowerAddons Template Designer already has a predefined relationship created; we just have to select the field relevant to our requirement.
❶ Add relationship -> ❷ Select the required relation
Step 5: Fill the fields
Fill the table with relevant fields. In this example, we require the product, quantity, price per unit, base amount, discount, tax, and total amount.
After the fields have been added. We can now merge the template with some quote records in our environment, and this is the result we will acquire.
