In June 2021, Microsoft Labs Attachment Management was deprecated. The free solution provided by Microsoft was available on AppSource and did allow to move email attachments to Azure Blob storage. Due to the considerable costs of Add-On capacity, Dynamics 365 and Power Apps customers are looking for alternative ways to control their cloud storage costs.
The AttachmentExtractor provided by mscrm-addons.com is not just a robust alternative, it also supports compatibility for files previously extracted via the Attachment Management solution.
Note: In addition to extracting file attachments it also supports the extraction of email content. This leads to significant cost savings on the data capacity. You can calculate your potential savings using the Savings Calculator
Compatibility with Microsoft Labs Attachment Management
With no change in user experience, the AttachmentExtractor retrieves extracted files and content upon request. Thus, users can access extracted files and content as usual when working within Dynamics 365.
This capability is extended to also retrieve files previously extracted using the Attachment Management solution.
How it works:
- Enable Support: During the setup, we check for existing configurations of the Attachment Management solution and will ask you if you want to enable compatibility. Once enabled, a snapshot of your configuration is made and used to load extracted files from your BLOB on demand.
- Disable AttachmentLabs Plugin-steps: All Plugin-steps starting with “Microsoft.AttachmentLabs.*” need to be disabled. Important: Do NOT delete those steps as it would break functionality.
