Recap: Arctic Cloud Developer Challenge

1174 views 1 Updated on January 29, 2026

This year marked our first time participating as a sponsor at the Arctic Cloud Developer Challenge in Norway, and it immediately set the tone for something special. Near Oslo at Holmenkollen, developers, MVPs, partners, and sponsors gathered not just to compete, but to experiment, collaborate, and push ideas further than they might in everyday project work. For the participating teams, it was clear this was less about polished demos and more about curiosity, creativity, and learning by building.

Documents at the Heart of Solutions

A particularly exciting part for us was seeing how documents became an active part of many solutions, rather than an afterthought. Teams used DocumentsCorePack to generate structured purchase order summaries, build advanced template logic, and automate document creation through Power Automate and Logic Apps. In several cases, participants went from an empty environment to fully automated document output in a matter of minutes, which sparked a lot of curiosity and follow-up discussions around flexibility and design choices.

These projects showed how document generation can support everything from classic business processes to playful sustainability concepts.

“[…] We managed to implement the DocumentsCorePack connector to automatically create a diploma for the winners!

No manual steps.
No custom backend services.
Just event driven automation across platforms.

It’s a fun example of how cloud, low-code, and AI ready platforms can be used in very non traditional scenarios.”

Carlos Briceno, IT Solutions Architect

Knowledge Sharing Beyond the Code

Equally valuable were the conversations happening alongside the coding. Supporting teams meant diving into architectural discussions, helping troubleshoot edge cases, and learning firsthand how different developers approach similar challenges. Many of these exchanges continued well beyond the scheduled sessions and turned into genuine knowledge sharing across teams, jury members, and sponsors.

The outdoor team activity offered a welcome reset after long hours of development. It gave everyone a chance to step away from their screens, connect on a more personal level, and simply enjoy being outdoors together.

Ending up in a randomly formed “Team 9” and winning one of the mini challenges was a fun reminder that collaboration often works best when you least expect it. It captured the spirit of the event: when you combine openness, experimentation, and a bit of randomness, surprising ideas and teams can rise to the top.

“Supporting the teams at the Arctic Cloud Developer Challenge showed how powerful it is when strong ideas, the right tools, and an open community come together. Being part of it felt less like attending an event and more like building alongside the community, leaving me with new perspectives and a lot of motivation.“
