How to solve: Failed to connect to an IPC Port

1416 views 0 Updated on January 27, 2025

If you receive the following error message while using the DocumentsCorePack TemplateDesigner:

RemotingException: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified.

It means, that DocumentsCorePack Dataprovider can´t connect with the Microsoft Word app.

Troubleshooting

  1. Most often the connection error can be resolved by restarting your computer.
  2. If the problem persists, you can use the following workaround: There is an additional setting in the DocumentsCorePack TemplateDesigner called “Do not use Dataprovider.” With this setting, you can define if you want to use the Dataprovider as an external program or if Word should connect to Dynamics 365 directly.
  3. If both, #1 and #2 are not applicable in your scenario, we have to ask you to double-check if a full Microsoft Word desktop version is deployed. Using the simplified Word App designed to only work on mobile devices and tablets often results in this connection error.

That’s it! We appreciate your feedback! Please share your thoughts by sending an email to support@mscrm-addons.com.
