How to solve: Failed to connect to an IPC Port

4549 views 5 Updated on January 27, 2025

Have you ever encountered the ‘Failed to connect to an IPC Port’ error while working with the DocumentsCorePack Template Designer? Let’s see how to solve ‘Failed to connect to an IPC Port’ error.

RemotingException: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified.

It means, that DocumentsCorePack Dataprovider can´t connect with the Microsoft Word app.

This error usually occurs when using the Microsoft Word app available

Troubleshooting

  1. Restarting your computer can often resolve the connection error.

  2. If the problem persists, you can use the following workaround: There is an additional setting in the DocumentsCorePack TemplateDesigner called “Do not use Dataprovider.” With this setting, you can define if you want to use the Dataprovider as an external program or if Word should connect to Dynamics 365 directly.
  3. If neither #1 nor #2 applies to your scenario, please double-check that a full Microsoft Word desktop version is deployed. Using the simplified Word App designed to only work on mobile devices and tablets often results in this connection error.

That’s it! We appreciate your feedback! Please share your thoughts by sending an email to support@mscrm-addons.com.
