Notes in ActivityTools

450 views 0

Annotations (notes) provide simple and convenient ways to append information to a record in Dynamics 365.  With a recent update, ActivityTools supports notes similarly to other activity types.  Now, notes can be added, edited and managed freely for the purposes of organization within the ActivityTools grid.

Prerequisites:

  • ActivityTools version 2024.2 or higher (update here)
  • This feature is available only for Dynamics 365 online only.

How to enable

To enable this feature, navigate to the ActivityTools web configuration, which can be found under Dynamics 365 > Power Platform Environment Settings > MSCRM-ADDONS > ActivityTools.  In the General Settings tab, enable the Include Notes setting and save the configuration.  The feature will now be activated.

Note: You can find information on how to access our web configurations here.

How to use

In the ActivityTools grid, related note records are now displayed in ❶ grid and preview.  Note records can be shown/hidden as via the ❷ drop-down menu, and new notes can be added via the ❸ New Activity button.

When a new note is created, a new dialog window will appear on the right side of ActivityTools.  Here, a ❶ title and ❷ text can be defined, and a ❸ file can be attached.  Clicking the ❹ Add Note button will create the note and relate it to the current main record.

Note: The dialog creates and updates the note text as plain text, not as HTML.  Existing notes containing HTML content (e.g. created via the default Dynamics 365 timeline) cannot be edited using this dialog.

The created note can be modified at any time via the Edit button.
