Most of the time, the regular Microsoft Word fonts are sufficient when it comes to the creation of new templates. However, sometimes it can be necessary to add a custom font. This article covers how to add custom fonts to MS Word, Dynamics 365 Online and Dynamics 365 OnPremise.

Note: If Open Path Fonts (.opf) are used in a template, please enable the following setting in the General tab of the Advanced Template Settings to ensure that these fonts are properly handled for PDFs.

1. Microsoft Word Templates:

To add custom fonts directly to the template, open a Word template and navigate to the File tab. Once there, click on Options (to be found on the left side at the bottom).

This brings up the Word Options dialog. Select the ❶ Save button and make sure, that the ❷ Embed fonts in the file option at the very bottom of the dialog is checked (see Figure 1).

Click on the ❸ OK button to save your changes.

Please note: The same template saves the font. To apply the fonts to other templates, repeat these steps for each one.

2. Dynamics 365 Online:

To add a custom font to your Dynamics 365, open your Service Configuration. If you are not sure how, learn more here.

Navigate to  Font Management and open it. Upload the font of your choice here.

Please note: You must restart your Service to apply the fonts.

3. Dynamics 365 On Premise:

To copy custom fonts to the server, you have to create a folder called Fonts and save your fonts there. Save the folder under the following path.
